FUNDRAISING TIPS

Helpful fundraising tips

One of the most important secrets of successful fundraising is to start as soon as you have registered with ARC and paid your non-refundable deposit.

  1. Keep your sponsorship card(s) with you at all times. You never know when you are going to meet a potential sponsor!
  2. For the cycling challenges, a ’static cycle’ in one of the shopping centres can be rewarding and can realise a lot towards  your fund. Get pals on board to help with collecting.*
  3. Collect with buckest in shopping centres and popular open areas such as Grafton St., Henry St., weekend markets, etc.*
  4. Golf Classics – if you don’t golf yourself, ask a pal who is a golfer to organise a Golf Classic/Outing and charge a fee to enter a team. Get spot prizes donated.
  5. Pub Quiz – get all the pals and work colleagues involved – great craic! Again, ask for spot prize donations.
  6. Bag pack in busy supermarkets with lots of helpers. Organise a rota for the day.*
  7. Clear out all those old books you have read, toys, etc. and arrange to sell them to neighbours/friends – just pop open your garage door!
  8. Organise a Salsa night. Approach venues that already have salsa nights  to see if they will organise it with you or book your own venue and organise the music.
  9. Organise a Comedy night. These are not only a fun way to raise funds but prove to be very popular. The Laughter Lounge for example helps host these for you and produces branded tickets and posters.
  10. Coffee morning – Get coffee and cakes sponsored/made for you. Charge a small fee. Make quirky donation boxes and place strategically! Invite friends and neighbours and enjoy the chat.
  11. Write/call only to people in the corporate sector whom you know, as it can be quite a fruitless exercise otherwise. These can include business contacts /clients / suppliers / service providers (in work or home life such as your local chemist, bank, doctor, etc.) / influential people you know / local clubs or committes you are involved with, etc.
  12. Poker Tournament – round up the pals and book a venue. Look for assistance on how to organise it (e.g. pokerireland.ie).
  13. Collect donations instead of Christmas presents, Birthday gifts, Wedding presents, etc!
  14. Why not ask your Facebook/Twitter/Bebo friends to make a donation online via mycharity.ie to help wtih a fundraiser you may choose to do for Arc House?
  15. For all events, there are several websites that provide free event invitation templates that you can email/print (e.g. evite.com).

*Don’t forget, you must get permission and/or a Garda permit and insurance (from ARC) when collecting in any shopping centre or public place. Contact ARC before undertaking this so we can assist you with the steps. You must also wear the ARC vests when collecting and ARC buckets MUST be sealed.

Fundraising doesn’t have to be a chore, it can be fun too and the more effort you put in, the bigger the sense of personal achievement. Always remember what a difference ou can make! ARC will supply you with as much support as we can, including sponsorship cards, bibs/vests, and official requirements.

Thank you on behalf of ARC Cancer Support Centre for your much needed support.
