The Great Western Railway Walk

Estimated Time: 5-5.30 hours walking
Fitness Levels: All fitness levels are welcome

About the NEW railway walk:
The Great Western Greenway trail a wonderful facility for walkers of all fitness levels. The trail mainly follows the railway tracks of the famous Newport / Mulranny which closed in 1937. The Greenway is the longest off-road walking and cycling trail in Ireland passing through some of the most stunning scenery in the West of Ireland. The Greenway is the first such project in this country and the objective is to make it equivalent or superior to similar European infrastructure. The facility will be multifunctional serving tourist, local recreational and school. It is fast becoming a “must do” route for international touring cyclists and walkers. You will find that West Mayo and Mulranny are one of Ireland’s most spectacular and beautiful walking destinations so don’t forget your camera!

Arrival and Hotel/Apartments:
On arrival by car from Dublin Friday evening 12th November to the Mulranny Park Hotel which is approx 25mins from Westport, you will be offered complementary soup, sandwiches, tea or coffee. You will be staying in the Hotel Apartments. The Hotel and Apartments are nestled within a beautiful woodland estate in the village of Mulranny, Co Mayo. Perched above the glittering waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel exudes not just old world charm and elegance but offers every visitor the warmest of welcomes. A unique causeway built in 1900, joins the hotel to a superb blue flag beach.

Dining…Fine dining and quality cuisine is at the heart of the Mulranny Park Hotel.
